Zemlja (2026)

Upcoming Project

Zemlja is a performance situated in a hybrid performative space that brings together political theatre, live art and movement. The work examines contemporary student protests in Serbia from the perspective of the Serbian diaspora in Belgium, drawing on the author-performer’s personal experience of displacement and political distance.

Unfolding as an inquiry into how individuals choose to act within a world increasingly shaped by polarisation and violence, the performance interrogates the psychological and political consequences of geographical distance and displacement, echoing Mitrović’s own experiences of migration. At a time when dissent and acts of refusal are increasingly criminalised, even within liberal democracies, she poses a vital question: “How do I stay connected to a collective struggle when displacement fractures the ties of belonging?”
